Heathkit W4-AM, Williamson Type Tube Power amplifier
A 50s era mono amplifier from the estate of a local RCA engineer. Being sold without tubes, all original construction. Untested, as is.
This Heathkit Williamson uses 6SN7 Drivers, a pair of 5881 output tubes, and a 5V4 rectifier tube. This unit has a Gray Hammertone finish, instead of the usual Gold finish found on most Heath amplifiers.
All of the capacitors, hardware, connectors, wiring and components are original. This amp will most definitely require complete recapping. The construction and wiring is neat, orderly with good soldering throughout.
Overall, the chassis and labeling are in good to Vg condition, with some blemishes to the Transformers, and light rust around the spot welds on the chassis where the finish didn't take.
There is a small chip to the AC outlet, and the rubber grommet around the power cord needs replacing.
Other than the normal yellow powdering of the cadmium plating on the screws, all of the hardware is in good condtion. The photos of the underside of the chassis were taken with the partial cover plate removed.
