Telex ACC2000 Cassette Duplicator, sn11022

This unit was removed from a small video post production house where it appears to have had infrequent use.  It has some age related fading to the plastic housing, and shows only light to moderate head wear on all 4 positions.  It's been tested and the copy function works fine, as does the automatic prewind, End of Tape and Rewind functions.  All of the indicators are working perfectly.  When tested with standard bias cassettes, the record levels and high frequency response were acceptable and within specifications.

The Telex ACC series of cassette duplicators were designed to provide expanding capacity and additional slave units can be connected to this unit using Telex ribbon cables.  

Since these machines move 1/8" tape at 30 IPS--a speed well above cassette design limits, small irregularities in the tape path can result in poor quality copies.  Therefore, keeping the tape path clean is very important. 

The pressure rollers are in good condition with no signs of significant wear.  However, given the age of the machine it is likely that the belts, clutches and rollers will need servicing to continue to provide quality copies.  Though it is working, this machine is being sold strictly AS-IS.

Please note, this is a 2 channel Mono duplicator, which means it copies both sides of the tape in a single pass.   While it can be used to copy stereo tapes it will produce monaural copies, with some reduction in high frequency response and possible phasing noise.

Standard cassettes recorded at 1.875 IPS will run at 16 times their original speed, or 30 IPS.   From a user standpoint, a 60 minute master cassette can be duplicated in under 2 minutes.
