Jepalana Studio Masters, 35 7" reels from Associated Recording Studios.

This description is based upon some of the original notes attached to a few of the tapes, along with sampled playback of 3 tapes.  

The Jepalana masters are a set of 35 7” reels, in various formats: half track mono and 2TR stereo, at 15 IPS, one tape is marked 7.5 IPS.   These tapes were acquired from a relative of Nat Schnapf (chief engineer and owner) and have been individually  stored in metal reel cases, which were placed inside of two steel boxes.  The only dates on that have been found are from December of 1961.  They were recently rediscovered during an inventory clearance.

 A spot test of 3 tapes shows that the tape stock itself is fine, but the splicing tape used to attache the paper leaders between the tracks is failing.   These earliest tapes are from 1961 and play fine without any noticeable shedding. 

Aside from being marked with “Jepalana #1,2, etc, only six of the reels contained any information about the tracks, artists or format.
